Chewing Simulator CS-4.2 economy line
Field of application
Following experiments are often carried out in the dental materials science:
- Determination of wear resistance of composites
- Strain testing of crowns, bridges and implants
- Simulation of bruxism to test occlusal splints
The new Chewing Simulator CS-4.2 by SD Mechatronik is a universal device to carry out these and other tests reliably and quickly. Special importance has been given to mechanical stability while developing it, ensuring that the results are maintained during extended operations as well.
Functional Principal
Two motor driven axles simulate different motion patterns.
An axle moves the table on which the sample chambers are mounted. The second axle lifts and sinks a traverse with weights. These weights touch the antagonists and generate contact pressure during the abrasive motion. The weight can be determined by the user. The traverse paths of the axles and the speeds can also be set independently from each other. It is possible to move either both the axles, or only one of them (e.g. for bruxism simulation). The various possible settings make the Chewing Simulator CS-4.2 a highly universal and versatile device for your laboratory.
Chief Advantages
- WILLYTEC technology recognised and proven on a worldwide basis.
- Continuous operation is possible for long duration trials due to the robust construction and use of high-quality components.
- High degree of reproducibility of the results: the construction used ensures identical kinematic conditions in each specimen chamber
- Excellent kinematics due to directly linked servo motors in both axes
- Can be used in all situations, and the specimen chambers can be used either with or without water fill.
- Various designs available (2, 4 or 8 tests chambers, thermo-cycling, force measuring system)
- Especially compact construction with a high level of rigidity
Technical Information
- Power supply 110V~ to 230V~, 50/60Hz, max. 60W
- Precise weights (accurate to within 0.1%) for each specimen chamber
- Specimen holders and antagonists are compatible with the WILLYTEC system
- Parameters are entered through a graphic touch screen equipped with a well-arranged menu. No special programming knowledge is necessary to operate it.
Chewing Simulator CS-4.8 professional line
Field of Application
The device simulates various chewing movements in the mouth for materials testing of implants, bridges, crowns, composite material and jaw models:
- Execution of complete chewing cycles by means of linear 2-axis motion
- Interpolated circular dual-axis movement for higher simulation frequencies up to 5Hz
- Simulation of Bruxism especially to test occlusal splints
- New: Integrated real-time wear analysis with break detection for every sample station (option)
The CS-4 device is based on WILLYTEC technology which is known and well-proven across the world, but which could be further improved and adapted to our customers' wishes as regards key details:
- Kinematics: particularly precise motion through the use of digital servo drives
- Significantly reduced noise when running, so can be used without problems in laboratories
- 2-axis operation reduces test times by up to 20% by means of simultaneous reverse motion along both axes
- Devices available which have identical specifications but 2 or 4 specimen chambers. This gives significant price advantages for users with smaller specimen volumes
- Various specimen holders, antagonists and special test rigs are available
Functional Principal
An antagonist strikes a specimen in accordance with defined parameters. The loading force is produced directly by precise weights, and is transferred to the specimens. The same load values operate in all the chambers. The use of a modern motion controller allows a whole variety of motion patterns to be programmed. This initially enables the user to programme freely definable movements in both axes using the application software which is included. This allows for example the antagonist to be set to strike at minimal speed so as to reduce to a minimum the forces transferred to the specimens.
